Upcycled Denim Jacket with Pieced & Appliqued Asian Elephant

One-of-a-kind-upcycled denim jacket with string-pieced and appliqued elephant.

This is a small woman’s 100% cotton jacket with metal buttons.  I used a technique called string quilting to piece together the Asian elephant which I then appliqued directly to the jacket.  It’s machine washable on cold, then air dry.

It measures as follows:

17″ straight across the chest, armhole to armhole

19″ from top back of neck to back hem

17″ arm inseam (underarm to sleeve hem)

It has cuffs that can be rolled back to expose grosgrain ribbon, four front pockets (two at the sides, two on top) and no damage, holes, etc.

More than 10.5 million tons of used textiles (i.e., used clothing) winds up in landfills annually.  I upcycle denim jackets and try to turn them into wearable art.  My process is very thorough cleaning of each jackets, replacement of all brand labels, and then redesign, sometimes through quilting, sometimes embroidery.   Please email me if you have questions.
